The Nature of Information Response

http://infoport.blogspot.com

It was very interesting to read about the three types of signs: Icons,Indices Symbols.

I also thought it was interesting how there are three dimensions of the sign-systems: Semantics, Syntax, and Pragmatics.

I didn't know that much about the different signs that displays information very nicely.

I got very confused when the notes talked about the quantity of information and the topic of bits. That concept seemd very hard to grasp. Shannon seemed to discuss this theory in a way that was hard to understand if you hadn't really heard of it before.

Library of Babel Response

The just of what I got from this short story is that the Library of Babel is an infinite, but countable, amount of information or books. It does a great job of describing the books and how the library looks visually and its structure. Although, when reading it, the fine details in this short story create great confusion for me or many other readers. It makes this library almost impossible to imagine in one's own head. The other thing that I got from it is that the Library of Babel contains every bit of information from every known book, and it's librarian is man itself.
